Amsterdam is Renno's home market. Two account executives are already selling and you hire the homeowner relationship manager. You run the city and own its plan and its margin.

At a glance

  • Location: Amsterdam (in the city, on the ground)
  • Reports to: Mark, CEO
  • Language: Dutch and English, both fluent. You write and sell in Dutch; the company runs in English.
  • Team: Two field account executives, already in seat, and a homeowner relationship manager you hire
  • Base: €100,000
  • Variable: €100,000 at plan, on top of base. Year one, three buckets: builders running their business on Renno at day 90, city GMV against plan at month six, break-even by month twelve. From year two, two buckets, equal weight: city GMV and city contribution margin against plan. Uncapped.
  • OTE: €200,000 at plan, uncapped
  • Equity: Meaningful equity in Renno, discussed at offer
  • Gates: run from the day our new payments platform goes live or your start date, whichever is later, and slide in writing for delays outside the city's control

About Renno

Renno is the payment rail for renovation. Homeowners fund a project once and approve each milestone when the work is done. Builders get paid instantly, without chasing. Both sides see exactly where the money is.

We are live in Amsterdam and London and hiring the team that opens the next markets.

From Mark, CEO. Renovation is a market worth close to a trillion euros a year that still runs on chasing invoices and hoping for the best. Builders wait weeks for money they have earned. Homeowners hand over their savings with no protection. We are fixing both, one city at a time. If you want to own a city and a number, talk to us.

The Role

You carry the city plan, the city contribution margin and the ten biggest builder relationships in town. Two account executives bring builders onto Renno, the homeowner relationship manager turns funded homeowner projects into activated builders, and you make the whole thing compound faster each quarter.

This is a general manager job, not a sales manager job. You decide which trades and which neighbourhoods first, which merchants and developers to sign, when to add a seat and when to hold, and you defend the city's contribution margin against plan every month. From break-even the city funds its own growth.

What You Own

  • You own the city plan: three phases, written down and gated. Ignite in 90 days, Saturate to month 12, Lift when organic volume overtakes what the team sources for a full quarter.
  • You own the city P&L, measured as contribution margin against plan every month. Every hire, incentive and partner deal is your call within the plan.
  • The ten builders whose books matter most in Amsterdam are your accounts personally.
  • You choose the partners on both sides: merchant counters, architects, developers, insurers and lenders. They amplify the team; they are not the primary channel.
  • You run the two account executives, hire the homeowner relationship manager, and keep two interviewed sales candidates warm at all times. A seat that misses two quarters running is resized, not topped up.
  • You report two numbers weekly, in writing: GMV per activated builder, and the share of each builder's private work running through Renno.

What Success Looks Like

  • 90 days: 60 builders are running their business on Renno and 25 homeowner projects are funded. The homeowner relationship manager is hired and producing, and a weekly city report is in place.
  • Month 6: city GMV is on plan and rising per builder, and the cost of launching the city has been recovered against plan.
  • Month 12: two consecutive months of positive contribution margin. The city's own numbers justify a second Amsterdam team, and the organic share is rising quarter on quarter.
  • Lift: organic volume beats what the team sources for a full quarter, and Renno is the default way builders in Amsterdam get paid.

This role is paid on city GMV and city contribution margin against plan. Year one pays on the three gates listed at the top; from year two it pays on both numbers against plan.

Who You Are

  • You have launched and run a city for a marketplace, mobility, delivery or SMB fintech business in the Netherlands, and owned its P&L.
  • You have hired and run a field team and know the difference between a rep who is slow to start and one who will never make it.
  • You are as comfortable on a building site as in a board meeting, and you speak plainly, in Dutch.
  • You run on written plans and weekly numbers, and you would rather resize a seat than carry it.
  • You are comfortable in a startup. Builders are not always around in the daytime, so some evenings and weekend calls come with the job. You try things, keep what works and move on from what does not.

Who You Are Not

  • A sales manager who has only ever run a team from a dashboard.
  • Someone who needs the playbook handed to them.
  • Anyone who confuses activity with outcomes.

Where This Goes

Win Amsterdam and you are the obvious Country Lead for the Netherlands when the second and third Dutch cities open, and a candidate to open the next country.

Tools You Will Use

You do not need to have used all of these, but you should pick them up quickly.

  • CRM and sales: HubSpot.
  • AI and automation: Claude Cowork, Granola.
  • General: Notion, Slack, Google Workspace.

How We Hire

  1. A 60-minute conversation with Mark, our CEO, about the city, the plan and the P&Ls you have owned.
  2. We send you Amsterdam's numbers and you bring a 90-day plan. Mark and Mour, our CPTO, spend 90 minutes going through it with you.
  3. You meet the account executives you would run, and one of our investors.
  4. A written offer within 48 hours, with the plan set out in full. Mark calls three references, one of them a former direct report.

Apply

Write to [email protected] for Mark's attention; he will come back to you within two working days to set up thirty minutes. Three lines on the biggest P&L you have owned is enough.
